Acknowledgments

Two short acknowledgments everyone signs before a trip, alongside the waiver and the code of conduct.

Transparency, not safety guarantees

By signing, you acknowledge that:

  • The site and the host offer transparency, not safety guarantees. Verification (the video call, references, Verify with FFN) helps you know who you're traveling with. It doesn't promise that anyone is safe, honest or a good fit. No screening can.
  • Badges show what was checked, by whom, and when. They are not background checks.
  • Check-ins, SOS and trusted-contact alerts are not an emergency service. They can be delayed or fail (no signal, a dead battery, an outage), and nobody watches them around the clock.
  • In an emergency, you call 911, or the local emergency number, first.
  • The itinerary, bookings and cost estimates are plans, not promises. Weather, closures and people change things.
  • You're responsible for your own safety and choices, and you can leave the trip at any time.

Your own way home

Anyone can leave a trip early, for any reason, and occasionally a host may have to ask someone to leave. By signing, you acknowledge that:

  • If you leave early, by choice or because you're asked to, you're responsible for getting yourself home and for the cost (a flight, bus, train, rental car or a ride).
  • You'll bring a way to pay for that (a credit card or money set aside), and keep your ID and a phone charger with you.
  • From remote parts of a route, getting out may take a day or more. The group will help you reach the nearest practical town when it's safe and reasonable, but isn't obliged to change the route or drive you home.
  • Money you've already put toward shared costs (lodging, vehicle, bookings) may not be refundable if you leave early. Any refund is up to the host once the group's costs are known.
  • You'll tell the host when you're leaving, and check in once you're on your way so nobody worries.

How you sign them

Each trip publishes these with its other agreements, linked from the trip's page, and you sign them in the trip's group space before it starts. A new version needs a new signature. The waiver you sign with them
